You're invited to audition for Nutcracker: Unlocked, VIVA Ballet Academy's reimagined holiday production! To register, simply complete the form below and submit the $15 audition fee to reserve your audition spot for Saturday, August 1 at VDC East. We can't wait to welcome you to VIVA's newest holiday tradition!
Nutcracker is open to all dancers ages 4 and up, both VIVA and non-VIVA. Dancers ages 6+ will participate in auditions for role placement, while dancers ages 4–6 will be cast in age-appropriate roles without an audition. Every dancer who participates will be cast in the production!
Once you're registered, we'll send everything you need to know before audition day!
Please arrive dressed in a black leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes. Dancers with pointe experience are encouraged to bring their pointe shoes.

Step into the magic of Nutcracker Unlocked—Viva Dance Collective's fresh take on a timeless holiday tradition. Blending the nostalgia of the classic Nutcracker with exciting new storytelling, contemporary creativity, and a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, ballroom, hip hop, and more, this production offers a place for every dancer to shine. Whether you're an experienced performer or taking the stage for the first time, we encourage dancers of all backgrounds to be part of this unforgettable holiday experience.
The audition schedule is outlined below. Dancers 12+ who wish to be considered for all roles are encouraged to attend 11:15-3:45.

*Participation is open to all dancers ages 4+. 4 & 5 year olds do not need to audition and will be placed in age-appropriate roles.
**A guided warm-up will not be provided. Please arrive one hour before your scheduled audition to check in and complete your own warm-up.
Interested in a non-ballet role? Be sure to attend the Non-Ballet Roles (Ages 6+) audition from 2:45–3:45pm to be considered.

If you're unable to attend Nutcracker auditions in person, you can still be considered through a video audition! Each dancer should submit two videos demonstrating the required age-specific combinations from the front. Combination videos are linked below.

Party Scene (Ages 6–11): Submit both required combinations (2 total videos).

Snow & Flowers (Ages 12+): Submit both required combinations (2 total videos).
Dancers wishing to be considered for pointe roles must also submit their required combinations en pointe.
Please submit your audition by emailing a Google Drive or Vimeo link to info@vivadancecollective.com no later than 12 noon on Friday, July 31. Be sure your sharing settings allow us to access and view your videos.
To make video submissions as easy as possible, we're hosting an Open Studio Filming Day on Friday, July 24 from 4:30-6:30pm! Dancers may reserve one complimentary 20-minute filming session to record their audition in the studio. Additional studio time may be reserved at our standard rental rates.
