MUCH LIKE THE ALL-STAR DIVISION, STUDIO COMPANY REQUIRES A STRONG COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE AND HIGH STANDARDS OF EXECUTION. ALL DANCERS RECEIVE THE SAME QUALITY TRAINING, TECHNICAL EXPECTATIONS, AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL.

Consideration for Studio Company is a simple add-on during Audition Week. Our staff looks beyond tumbling and tricks, seeking expressive movers with a diverse technical foundation rooted in ballet and nurtured through consistent training in jazz, lyrical, tap, and modern.
Company is cast by individual piece, allowing choreography to be cast based on artistic fit, technical readiness, and the needs of each piece rather than placement on a fixed team.
Dancers train and perform across a dynamic range of styles including jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, modern, hip hop, musical theater, and acro. Creative casting allows the versatility for works to be thoughtfully curated as small groups, large productions, or cross-age collaborations.
Studio performances often incorporate props, set pieces, layered entrances and exits, and even costume changes, creating immersive, story-driven stage experiences that expand far beyond traditional routines.

STRUCTURE
Company is designed to complement, not compete with, other VIVA commitments. Participation on an All-Star team is not required; dancers may pursue Studio independently or alongside their primary team. Technique classes are level-based, with additional requirements depending on style.
Mini/Petite–Junior

*Tap and Hip Hop-focused dancers may train 2-3 hours weekly.
Routine rehearsals are typically 1-2 hours, held a few times each month.
VIVA Company attends 3 studio-focused competitions and culminates the season at Nationals in June 2027.

TINY NOVICE SPARKLE SQUAD IS THE FIRST STEP IN VIVA’S COMPETITIVE PATHWAY, OFFERING OUR YOUNGEST ATHLETES AN EXCITING INTRODUCTION TO TEAM DANCE. DESIGNED AS A SAMPLER-STYLE SEASON, DANCERS AGES 4-6 EXPERIENCE BOTH THE ALL-STAR AND STUDIO COMPETITION CIRCUITS WHILE BUILDING CONFIDENCE, LEARNING TEAMWORK, AND DISCOVERING THE JOY OF PERFORMING ON STAGE. THROUGHOUT THE SEASON, DANCERS WILL ALSO TAKE PART IN THE VIVA SHOWCASE AND LIVE SHOW, GIVING THEM MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO SHINE AND CELEBRATE THEIR PROGRESS!
BUILDING
Sparkle Squad meets twice per week, where dancers train in a variety of styles including pom, jazz, ballet, and tap. Practices focus on developing strong fundamentals, musicality, routine retention, and performance quality. Each rehearsal blends technique training with choreography, helping dancers grow their skills while preparing confidently for the stage.
Optional tumbling classes are available to supplement weekly rehearsals while building strength, flexibility, and foundational acro skills. These sessions provide additional training opportunities in a supportive environment and are conveniently held on-site at VIVA.

The Sparkle Squad season features a well-rounded introduction to competitive dance, including one All-Star competition and two Studio competitions. Final event selections will be confirmed once competitions release their 2027 schedule. This balanced schedule allows dancers and families to experience different competition environments while exploring which pathway may be the best fit for their future dance journey!

Squad members will receive three thoughtfully selected costumes, each designed to complement the style and choreography of their routines. Every look is age-appropriate, fun, and adds an extra touch of excitement as our tiny performers take the stage.
And because Sparkle Squad members are part of the team too, they sport the full kit! As first-year members, dancers will also receive the official VIVA team jacket and backpack.
